The Wall of Hope Mission

The mission of Wall of Hope is to educate our Central Ohio community about nutrition’s clinical link with the health of our brain, while in addition providing nutrient-rich meals to Central Ohio families facing an immediate mental health emergency.

Incidences of psychological health conditions continue to skyrocket year after year, with an estimated 1 in 4 Americans suffering from a diagnosable mental health disorder.

Nutrition’s significant role in cognitive brain functionality and mood is supported by indisputable scientific data, yet remarkably is an often overlooked piece of a complicated mental health puzzle.

Standing in front of us is an opportunity - as a community united - to come together to better appreciate nutrition’s role in our psychological well being.

Family units caring for an individual battling a mental health condition face unimaginable tension and uncertainty. Eating a meal becomes an afterthought, much less fueling with a nutrient-dense meal made of fresh, quality ingredients that optimize brain functionality and mood.

A "whole foods" diet has been found to be protective against developing depression among other mental illnesses by 42%.

Dietary patterns high in processed foods, or a "western dietary pattern," are strongly correlated with an increased risk of developing depression, mild cognitive impairment, and ADHD.

Wall of Hope in Action

Mental Wellness Mondays

Mental Wellness Mondays provided nutrient-dense meals courtesy of SŌW Plated every Monday to families spending time in the Ronald McDonald Family Room inside the Big Lots Behavioral Health Pavilion at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.  Since the program’s inception February 2023, it has been the Wall of Hope’s privilege to deliver a total of 1,054 meals to date.

Feeding Minds

Feeding Minds is a grassroots program built to support our local high school communities.  Grandview Heights High School was invited to participate as the initiative’s trial partner.  Unveiling Q1 2023, the partnership is already a success story.  Working alongside the charitable organization neighborhood bridges (www.neighborhoodbridges.org),  SŌW Plated provides complimentary meals to GHHS families confronted with a mental health emergency.  Last year the team at SŌW Plated graciously worked with a group of student ambassadors to create a healthy mood-boosting snack to share with classmates prior to taking the ACT test the following day.

Live SŌW Well

At 5:30p the last Monday of every month, notable personalities from the field of health and wellness are invited speak to the community about a variety of subjects relatable back to the well-being of our brain.  These talks held on the beautifully appointed Patio at SŌW are living room styled conversations that promise to educate, empower, and entertain the audience.
